A Romanian single mother escapes from an abusive husband and flees to London to build a better future for her daughter. She's found a job and place to live, but the landlord has a strict "no children allowed" policy. Trapped in an impossible situation, she must find a way to hide her daughter in the flat.
Fatema Ahmadi is an Iranian writer and director who divides her time between London and Tehran. One Thousand and One Teardrops, her graduation film at the London Film School, was shortlisted at more than 50 festivals and earned four nominations and several awards. Fateme wrote and co-directed Chandra, which was produced by the Asian Film Academy, premiered at Busan Film Festival and screened at Palm Springs, London Short Film Festival and Locarno. An alumna of Berlinale Talents 2017, Fatema is currently working as associate producer on the feature documentary Coup 53, directed by Taghi Amirani and edited by Walter Murch. Her latest work is Leila’s Blues, a short film set in Tunisia, which screened at Directors’ Fortnight – Cannes in May 2018.
