This documentary short profiles Ma Aye Kaung, a thirteen-year old girl who grew up during the reign of Myanmar's military government. She has worked as a child laborer since age nine, but desperately wants to go to school to learn to read and write. She holds great hopes for Myanmar's new leader Aung San Suu Kyi, but during the transition period, her dreams of going to school seem unlikely to materialize.
Shin Daewe began her career as an assistant producer at AV Media at 1998, and in 2006, started to train in documentary film workshops at Yangon Film School. She has directed nearly a dozen short films, and received the best documentary awards at Myanmar's Freedom Film Festival and Wathann Film Festival in 2013, and silver awards from KKIFF (Malaysia) and Wathann Film Festival in 2014.
